After Jamie Spears filed documents requesting to “immediately terminate” his daughter Britney Spears’s conservatorship, the pop star’s mother, Lynne Spears, filed some paperwork of her own, requesting payment for over $650,000 in attorney fees.

Lynne filed a petition for payments on Monday, per People, asking that Britney’s estate pay for attorney-related expenses due to her lawyers’ involvement in Britney’s conservatorship case. In the filing, Lynne’s attorneys say she reached out to them in order to “help Britney free herself from what she saw as a very controlling existence.” They also claim they engaged in “researching and vetting appropriate qualified expert doctors” for Britney in May 2019 and that they advocated for Jamie’s removal from the conservatorship.

The document states, “Lynne discussed joining the conservatorship as an interested party extensively with Britney and Britney enthusiastically agreed, and indeed asked her mother to join in the case in any capacity that would help to end her nightmare and the crisis she was enduring.” According to People, Lynne’s attorneys at Jones Swanson said that their fees totaled $840,000, but that they would be “willing to apply a 40% discount” and take $504,000 instead. Lynne’s other attorneys at Ginzburg & Bronshteyn are reportedly requesting an additional $146,548 in fees. This matter will be discussed during a December 8 court hearing after the decision of whether or not to terminate Britney’s conservatorship is made on November 12, the outlet noted.

Lynne’s request for lawyer fees came just a day before Britney posted then deleted a diatribe against her mom on Instagram, accusing her of “secretly ruin[ing]” her life. In the since-deleted Instagram post, captured by Page Six, the singer discusses her frustrations with her mom getting “so concerned” over her behavior and accusing her of “acting weird.” She then goes on to write, “my dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago…but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea!!!! I will never get those years back.” Britney adds that her mom “secretly ruined my life…so take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude and go fuck yourself!!!!” She concluded her caption by addressing her mom directly, saying, “You know exactly what you did…my dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship…but tonight I will smile knowing I have a new life ahead of me!!!!” (Lynne did not immediately respond to People or Vanity Fair’s request for comment.)
