Britney Spears is writing a book.

Or so it seems, after the star’s latest Instagram post.

Spears, who has finally been freed from her restrictive 16-year conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears, has been posting to her social media platforms animatedly over the last week, as she relishes in her newfound independence and autonomy.

Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Spears posted a cryptic black-and-white image of a hand holding a pen, along with a caption that surprised, but also delighted fans.

“I’m writing a book 📚 about a girl⁣ who was murdered 👀…yet her ghost 👻 gets stuck in limbo because of trauma and pain and she doesn’t know how to cross over to the world she use to know 🌎 !!!!” Britney wrote.

She explains her ghost protagonist, who’s been stuck in limbo for years, depends on her mirror reflection to exist. Despite not being able to trust anyone, she finds a way to cross over into the world where her family is.

“Coming out of the limbo she has a decision to make…greet the same people who murdered her or create a whole new life !!!! She no longer needs her mirror…she found a portal by citing certain prayers constantly that gives her the insight and gift to not be scared anymore and come out of limbo…

Ending her message, Britney said she wouldn’t be giving everything away to fans: “But what I will leave to the IMAGINATION 💭 is what she does when she crosses over…besides learning to write her name again 😉 ✍🏻 !!!!⁣” she wrote.

A few days prior to the announcement, Britney posted another cryptic black-and-white image of a hand holding a light bulb.

The star added no caption to her post, which left fans to wonder what her ‘lightbulb idea’ might be. Now, with her tease of a possible new book, the puzzle pieces are falling into place.

Celebrating Britney’s possible new project, fans immediately flooded her post with supportive comments, with many acknowledging the similarities between the ghost’s predicament and Britney’s oppressive conservatorship.

“This is the story about a girl named Britney,” one fan wrote, referencing the opening lyrics from Spears’ number-one hit, ‘Lucky’.

“A NYT best seller in the making,” another fan praised.

A third added: “Yes Britney!! We cannot wait to read it.”

The post comes after the star shared a series of fun-loving photos and videos with her fans over the week, as well as taking a small jab at her family.

Sharing an image of two women underwater, Spears wrote that the picture was “everything to me,” before adding that it “makes her want to cry”.

Spears said the image represented two “divine” sisters, one being “saved” by the other and took the chance to take aim at her family: “If you’re like my family who says things like ‘sorry, you’re in a conservatorship’ …probably thinking you’re different so they can f–k with you !!!!

“Thankfully I found an amazing attorney Mathew Rosengart who has helped change my life 🌹!!!!” the star wrote.
