Real Housewives star Erika Jayne is in hot water after seemingly comparing herself to Jesus Christ.

Jayne, who is currently co-named in a lawsuit regarding alleged embezzlement with her soon-to-be-ex-husband Tom Girardi against his law firm’s former clients, shared a fan’s post on Instagram comparing herself to the religious figure.

“This is exactly how CHRIST died,” part of the fan’s post read, which was also calling out the lawyer who is fighting against Jayne in court.

“[Attorney Ronald Richards] should be disbarred for ‘unethical practice’ by slandering [Erika Jayne] for misconduct the COURTS NEVER charged her for!” the fan’s post said.

“Ronald (a lawyer) undermined the judicial system by making accusations and insinuations in hopes it will inspire public opinion to override the courts. (IF it ever went to court),” the fan claimed.

“This behaviour is dangerous and reckless for our society! Everyone should take note!”

As a result of sharing the post, the 50-year-old singer and reality star received much criticism online for the implication that being judged negatively in the court of public opinion is the same as Jesus’s crucifixion.

“Erika Jayne comparing herself to Christ is … absolutely insane,” one Twitter user wrote.

“This woman has lost her damn mind.”

Richards is the lawyer currently overseeing the liquidation of Jayne’s husband Girardi’s law firm, and has been outspoken on social media regarding the case — including publicly calling for Jayne to return the US$25 million (approx. $34 million) Richards claims she wrongly took from Girardi’s law firm.

Girardi’s law firm is now in bankruptcy.

Earlier this week, Richards tweeted that he was looking forwards to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, in which Jayne features, to air.

In a statement to Page Six, Richards defended his latest comments on social media.

“There is not a single statement that anyone can point to that our office has ever posted that is untrue or inaccurate,” Richards told the publication in a statement.

“Reposting someone’s insulting statement doesn’t change that fact, all of our posts are accurate and sometimes the truth hurts.”

After receiving backlash, Jayne then backtracked by sharing another one of the fan’s post on Instagram.

“This is not a post comparing [Erika Jayne] to Christ,” the post wrote.

“It’s comparing an unethical lawyer who is trying to undermine this judicial system by persuading the courts to ACT based on public opinion and not by the law. Just like the pharisees did to Christ.”

Jayne has steadfastly denied any knowledge of the allegations made against Girardi — law firm Girardi & Keese owes more than US$101 million (approx. $138 million) in debt for allegedly mismanaging clients’ funds.

Previously, Jayne has accused Richards of extortion for publicly offering her a deal if she settled her alleged part in Girardi’s bankruptcy case.
