Today, in truly unexpected news, it has emerged Meghan Trainor and her husband have side-by-side toilets installed in their home — at their request.

The American singer, who is married to actor Daryl Sabara, revealed that particular titbit in an episode of Nicole Byer’s Why Won’t You Date Me? podcast. (Listen to a snippet in the video above.)

Trainor explained the couple had been doing construction on their new home, and made the unusual request to their builders.

“In our bathroom, there was one toilet, and a lot of time in the middle of the night when we’re with the baby, we’ve got to pee at the same time,” the ‘All About That Bass’ singer said.

“So I was like, ‘Can we please have two toilets next to each other?'”

An incredulous Byers replied, “Excuse me? You looked at a contractor, another adult, in the face and said, ‘We need a bathroom with two toilets next to each other’?”

“He laughed and thought I was joking and I was like, ‘No, I’m not joking’. And then he did it,” the Grammy winner confirmed.

Byers, saying she was “shook and floored” by the revelation, then asked the inevitable question: do husband and wife use the toilets side-by-side?

“Often,” Trainor replied. “We pee at the same time a lot … We’ve only pooped together twice.”

The singer’s brother Ryan Trainor, who joined her for the podcast interview, declared the couple “weirdos” for their tandem toilet habits.

Trainor and Sabara, who starred in the Spy Kids movies, welcomed their son Riley on February 8, announcing the news on Valentine’s Day.

The pair initially met in 2014, but it was two years later that they were set up by their mutual friend, actress Chloë Grace Moretz, who arranged a double date with them and her boyfriend at the time, Brooklyn Beckham.

Trainor and Sabara tied the knot in December 2018 in an intimate backyard wedding.
